We hope you find all the information you require on this page. If not then please contact the U.7s manager who will endeavour to answer all of your queries. U.7s play Tag rugby and we have listed some information below which we hope you find useful:

What day & time .

Caldy Rugby Club every Sunday morning at 10.30am and finish at 12pm.

Tag Rugby explained:

Tag Rugby is a safe, fun and exciting form of non-contact rugby and is an ideal game for girls and boys of all ages and abilities. In its simplest form it can be played without scrums and line outs and with teams comprising of as few as 4 or 5 players. It can be played as a family fun game in the garden or on the beach or as a competitive game in organised leagues and festivals.

Why play Tag Rugby?

Tag Rugby has the following advantages over the traditional games of rugby as an introductory game:

  • it shows clearly when a tackle is made and prevents arguments
  • it allows players to easily officiate their own games
  • it gives a real incentive for defenders to defend
  • it momentarily takes the “tackler” out of the game as would happen in full contact rugby, allowing more time and space for the attacking team.
  • it encourages the correct lines of running required for success in the full 15-a-side game
  • it improves hand eye co-ordination
  • its good healthy physical exercise
  • encourages communication skills
  • most importantly Tag Rugby is a fun game that all the family can play

What are our aims?

Our aim is to introduce boys and girls to the game of Tag rugby in a fun, safe and secure environment through active participation. We recognise that every child is unique and they develop at different stages. Training sessions will be fun, informative and appropriate for the age range and abilities of all children.

What age do we start?

Children have to be in Year 1 or 2 as of September 2009..

What day & time do we train?

We train on the top pitch at Caldy Rugby Club every Sunday morning at 10.30am prompt.

Taster sessions:

We offer two taster sessions to boys and girls. Once these have been completed you will need to join the club (£75 for the year  member) to continue.

What do I need?

If its your first session, your child, football kit, rugby kit, tracksuit or any sporty clothes suitable for the time of year we are training (Sept – March).

The more clothes they have the better as we can take layers off if necessary.

It gets very cold in winter so hats and rugby type gloves would be beneficial.

Football/rugby boots and a water bottle are a must.

When representing the club in matches your child will be required to wear the Caldy kit which can be purchased from the club shop.

Gum shield:

The U.7s play Tag-rugby which is non-contact. Whether children where gum shields or not is parental choice.

When do they play matches:

Children can play matches on the turn of there 6th birthday. This is an RFU ruling to cover insurance. We have a host of fixtures throughout the season as well as a number of festivals. Everyone will play as long as they attend training.

What happens at training:

Children aged 5 years train together and separately from the other group. The 6 and 7 year olds generally train together. A structure has been put into place to develop children through fun active participation.

Sanctions;

If a child proves to be disruptive to the session we will ask them to have time out and go back to their parent. We would ask if the parent could speak with their child and just take a few moments to consider their behaviour. We want all the children to have fun but safely. Safety comes first so we would ask if could enforce this message please.

“All our children are champions”

Mohammed Ali said Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside of them – a desire, a dream, a vision…. they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill

I would also like to know if any child has not recieved a trophy as yet? Please e-mail and let me know.
